Abstract
Mysticism, popularly known as any kind of ecstasy or altered state of consciousness, refers to the attainment of insight into ultimate or hidden truths. It’s a human transformation supported by various practices and experiences. Khawaja Mir Dard was a famous poet of the Urdu classic Ghazl. He is a renowned mystic poet, both in Persian and Urdu. As a Sufi poet, he was respected equally by the royalty and the nobility. He turned into an impassioned advocate for poetry and a humble apologist for art. He considered poetry merely one of the many talents of mankind. This reflection on language, speech, and expression underlines the modes of Dard’s poetic apprehension and expression. His poetry has every kind of allusion.70% of the religious allusions in Dard poetry are taken from the Quran, Hadith, and Islamic history. He has used these allusions in his poetry in different ways. This paper highlights the importance of mysticism and the relation of mysticism to religion and religious thinking ways of expression through allusion to Dard poetry.
